Rita Salisbury (TAS,2013) Volunteers at NOAA Heritage Week Open House

Rita Salisbury (TAS 2013) volunteered to share information about the NOAA Teacher at Sea Program and demonstrated fisheries hands-on activities at NOAA’s Heritage Week Open House on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at NOAA’s Science Center in Silver Spring, MD. A series of free activities was open to the public, including guest presentations, interactive exhibits, and hands-on activities for ages 5 and up. Ms. Salisbury shared her TAS experience aboard NOAA ship Oscar Elton Sette with the community and explained how light waves in water provide camouflage for some deep sea bottomfish. NOAA’s Heritage Week is an annual event and is part of the Preserve America Initiative.
