Kevin Sullivan (TAS 2011) Awarded Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Grant

Kevin Sullivan (TAS 2011) was awarded a Fulbright Classroom Teacher Exchange Program grant to the United Kingdom. He is currently in Glasgow, Scotland to participate in the one-year teaching exchange program.

Kevin will be teaching biology at the Williamwood School in Glasgow, Scotland. This secondary school has been ranked the top public school in Scotland. Sullivan’s classes will consist of students between 11-18 years of age, who are considered academically challenged. Although the curriculum is more regimented than here in the states, Sullivan is excited about the challenges. At Williamwood, the class size is smaller (15 versus his current average of 25), and the school day is longer so there is more time to go over material.

Kevin Sullivan, a marine science, environmental science, and coastal zone management teacher at Middletown High School South in Sea Bright, NJ was aboard NOAA Ship Oscar Dyson while scientists conducted Bering-Aleutian Salmon International Surveys (BASIS) off the coast of Alaska.
