Eleventh Graders Visit NOAA Ship Oscar Elton Sette

Dr. Suzanne Acord (TAS 2014) and her 11th grade students from Mid-Pacific Institute in Honolulu, HI learned about ocean careers and research aboard NOAA Ship Oscar Elton Sette on December 1, 2014. Students toured the ship and had the opportunity to talk with NOAA Officers and Chief Scientist, Dr. Don Kobayashi, about life at sea, science at sea, and marine navigation. Throughout the morning, students visited the bridge, the Texas deck, the wet lab, the bunk house, and the flying bridge. They prepared for their trip by viewing Dr. Acord’s Teacher at Sea blogs.
