Mid-Atlantic Region Teacher at Sea Alumni Attend Workshop at NOAA Headquarters

Seventeen NOAA Teacher at Sea Alumni from the Mid-Atlantic Region (DC, DE, MD, and VA) met in Silver Spring, MD on March 14 – 17, 2014, for a three-day workshop with the following objectives:

Enhance science content knowledge

Share local NOAA data and resources

Explore ways in which workshop content can be incorporated in curriculum 

Develop a plan to work together and promote NOAA science in Mid-Atlantic schools and communities. 

The workshop held on NOAA’s Main Campus, included tours of NOAA’s Science Center and Auditorium, NOAA’s Science on a Sphere, and the Gateway to NOAA. Topics included geodesy, ocean circulation, tide prediction, measuring sea level, jellyfish and sponge history and evolution, and other ocean topics.
