NOAA Teacher at Sea Alumni Volunteer at Regional Science Conferences

NOAA Teacher at Sea Alumni Susan Kaiser (2012), Cathrine Prenot (2011), and June Teisan (2015) volunteered at regional science conferences in Nevada, Texas and Pennsylvania. They informed the public about the Teacher at Sea Program (TAS), shared their experiences at sea, and distributed NOAA education materials.

Through their efforts at these conferences, NOAA Teacher at Sea Alumni communicate NOAA’s mission and service to the public, as well as show NOAA’s impact on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education (STEM). Susan Kaiser and June Teisan volunteered at the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Conference in Reno, NV in October 2015. The conference focused on connecting the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Cathrine Prenot volunteered at the Science Teachers Association of Texas (STAT) annual Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching (CAST) in November 2015. The theme for the conference was Defying Gravity. June Teisan also volunteered at the NSTA Conference in Philadelphia, PA in November 2015. The theme for this conference was Revolutionary Science.
