Teacher at Sea Sets Sail in January

A person wearing a purple jacket operates controls on a ship's bridge, surrounded by navigation screens and equipment. They look forward, focused on steering or monitoring the vessel's systems.

As we embark on our 35th year of Teacher at Sea, we are excited to announce a unique opportunity we seized to send a teacher to sea in January! TAS ’25 Kiersten Newtoff, a biology professor at Montgomery College in Maryland, is the final member of our long-delayed 2020 cohort. We are thrilled that on Monday, January 6, she set sail from Newport, Rhode Island aboard NOAA Ship Pisces for the Atlantic marine mammal survey. Follow along on Kiersten’s blog.
